Connect with strangers, connect with friends, connect with your city. The Lost Art of Conversation is a network of specially created telephone lines made from yoghurt pots and string that will appear across the city centre and help to get Leeds talking.

Visit the telephone exchange in Millennium Square for a chin-wag or pick up a Light Night phone in the city centre and see who is on the other end. Perhaps you'll finally end up talking to that man who sits next to you on the bus every morning, or the woman who's lived next door for ten years but you've never said more than ‘hello' to. Maybe you'll share a secret with a stranger or discover the way to make the perfect Yorkshire pudding. The lines of communication will be open all night so look out for phones in the most unexpected of places and take the time to talk. Note: Instructions will be provided and talking can continue long after Light Night.

Call for Yogurt Pots!

Everybody likes yoghurt (except the intolerant), and now here comes the moment that we've all been waiting for, when YOGHURT and ART join together, a collaboration as surprising and satisfactory as Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue.  And your consumption of yoghurt can make this happen.  As part of Light Night 2009, Leeds will be celebrating the power of connections in the Lost Art of Conversation - a network of specially created telephone lines made from string and yoghurt pots that will appear across the city centre and help to get Leeds talking.  Send us your yoghurt pots (preferrably after a bit of a wash) and we'll do the rest.

Eat. Rinse. Send to: Lost Art of Conversation, Arts & Regeneration, Leeds Town Hall, Headrow, LS1 3AD. Or drop them in at the Town Hall.
